HELLO
Wendi Bergamini hails from Northern California, born and raised in the San Francisco Bay Area. When dared to audition for a solo line in her middle school choir concert, Wendi met the challenge, and succeeded in singing “The cattle are lowing, the baby awakes…”in their auditorium holiday concert. This was soon followed by other school solo performances of “Wind Beneath My Wings” and other early ‘90’s classic hits.
Wendi earned her BFA in theatre with an emphasis in acting from UCBS’s acclaimed west coast program. She went on to perform with major regional companies, including CLOSBC, and The Western Stage, before quickly finding her way to New York City. Immediately in love with the vibrancy of New York's artistic community, she found her new home.
A true triple threat, Wendi has been in the original Broadway casts of: NEW YORK, NEW YORK (workshop, OBC); Disney's FROZEN (workshops, Denver Center, OBC); DR. ZHIVAGO (featured ensemble, OBC); EVITA, starring Ricky Martin and directed by Michael Grandage, choreographed by Rob Ashford; PROMISES, PROMISES, playing the role of Miss Olson opposite Kristen Chenoweth and Sean Hayes; and the breathtaking revival of SOUTH PACIFIC, directed by Bartlett Sher and choreographed by Christopher Gattelli. Wendi toured the US in the 1st national tour of THE LIGHT IN THE PIAZZA, playing the role of the fiery sister-in-law Franca Naccarelli, under the direction of Bartlett Sher. Her other touring credits include: the 25th Anniversary national tour of EVITA, directed by Hal Prince; GUYS & DOLLS; and the role of Jellylorum in CATS.
Wendi has had the good fortune to perform five times on the Tony Awards as a member of the Broadway companies of New York, New York, Frozen, South Pacific, Promises, Promises, and Evita. She is also featured as the Head Handmaid in the Good Morning America appearance of the Broadway company of FROZEN. One of her favorite credits, Wendi appeared in The Sound of Music Live, starring Carrie Underwood.
Recently, Wendi has had the incredible opportunity to work on new material in readings/labs directed by Kathleen Marshall, Casey Nicholaw, Rob Ashford, Jerry Mitchell, Scott Schwartz, and Susan Stroman. She is passionate about new work, and feels so fortunate to get to work on new material by writers such as Stephen Schwartz, Paul Williams, Marcy Heisler & Zina Goldrich, Henry Krieger, Scott Frankel & Michael Korie, Matt Sklar & Chad Beguelin, and Michael Weiner & Alan Zachary.
